What is better than relaxing with family and friends and eating in or out when on holiday? Choose from two options in the village or head out to many award winning restaurants or cook inside and find your inner chef!

John Paul Jones Public House

The John Paul Jones – large public house offering breakfast through to evening meals and all day pub service. Regularly offering “meal deals” and promotions – this is the perfect venue for a family meal and drinks.

The John Paul Jones is open all year round – ideal for families!

The Pub also offers entertainment, quizzes and family events – these are advertised locally and subject to time of year and availability,

Local Cafes and Restaurants

There are numerous restaurants and pubs around the area serving specialities such as Pies at the Piebald Inn or of course choose from numerous Fish and Chip Shops dotted up and down the coast!

Our favourites (the smith family):

  • Formal Occasions / Something Special – the Farrier at Cayton – read all about this below
  • Local Café – Only a Short Walk away is Gap Cafe – Check out the cafe with a view in the picture – only a short hop from your property!

The Four Cats

This on site cafe and pizzeria offers seasonal menus and will do takeaway or eat in – great pizzas and next to the pub this is a great family friendly option!

Opening hours of The Four Cats does vary depending on season. Check locally for opening times / hours.

The Shop / Shopping – Eat at Home!

In the heart of the village, you will find a well-stocked shop. This offers souvenirs as well as all your essentials.

Opening hours of the shop do vary and are seasonal so please call in when you arrive to avoid disappointment.  When you book, we send you details of your cottage so you can book a supermarket delivery right to your door without worrying about transporting food!

Some of our properties have brick BBQs for you to use disposable BBQs on – ideal for lazy summer evenings.

The Farrier at Cayton

This amazing pub is located about 15 minute drive away from The Bay. Famous for its Fabulous Fayre and winner of Four in a Bed, this is a stunning Pub and well worth a visit.

“Situated on the beautiful North Yorkshire Coast between Scarborough and Filey the village of Cayton is mentioned in the Domesday book as Caitune and there is no doubt that it existed many years prior 1066. Standing next to the 12th Century church in the heart of this village is the former ‘Smithy’ and ‘Inn’.
For more than 200 years the former cottages on the corner of Church Lane and Main Street have been of service to locals and travellers alike with the resident blacksmith shoeing horses and offering hospitality.
After an extensive 3 year renovation project our family have breathed life into this historic site and are proud to be able to open the doors to welcome guests once more.
We believe the hospitality of an era long since gone combined with the unashamed luxury, modern conveniences and high end comforts required by today’s guests bring together a new standard of boutique experience to the area.”

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery

Only a 5 minute drive from the village is the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery – an award winning distillery offering tours and a great coffee shop and shop. This is a brilliant Yorkshire attraction and offers the perfect opportunity for a day out and a souvenir with our name (or nearly) on every bottle.
