Summer Days on The Bay

In Summer there is always something to do when the sun shines (or when it doesn’t) – this week (plus) of sunny weather has been exceptional and it isnt set to stop!

Check out what you can do when the sun is shining – just don’t forget the sunscreen and to check the tide times – remember all the activities below don’t need a car, taxi, bus or train – they are all a short walk away!

The Beach

The beach is amazing at The Bay – direct beach access midway along the 5 miles of sandy beach you can find:

World War 2 relics – whether a gun emplacement or a pill box there are lots to see along the coast and near the bay beach access

Lost Remains – The wreck of the Laura – 18977 steamship – Although the wreck can still be seen today, visitors must be aware that the tides in this area can be fierce and bathing or excursions into the water are not advisable as bathers have been lost at this end of the beach.

Walks to Filey – a stroll away is the town of Filey – see our page about the coast and Filey in particular

Cafes and more – there are 2 great beach cafe’s from The Bay beach access point – head south along the beach and explore!

The Lake / Meadows

We are delighted we have a new house – Low Lake Lodge which over looks the meadows lake

The meadows are truly special and unique to our village – have a read about what to see and do on the Meadows:

Meadows Wildlife – have a look at the fish in the clear lake, look for the owl, feed the ducks or look for the great crested newts – they are all easily visible on The Meadows!

Meadows Walks – explore the hundreds of meters of walks across and within / throughout the meadow – where you are never too far from water but yet near enough to nature

Football – there is a football pitch on the meadows near the pub end – ideal for a lazy kick about!

Join the Cleveland Way direct from the village – explore miles of walks to beach cafes, along the top to Flamborough or Bempton – or along into Filey.

The Cleveland Way is part of the North York Moors national park – visit this page to find out more!

Activities on The Bay

The Bay is ideal for everyone as a base:

Boules – there are numerous Boules Courts across the village

Table Tennis – outdoor tables are there to play!

Football – football pitch on The Meadows awaits the next premier league player!

Bookable activités – activities such as Archery and orienteering are bookable via Away resorts – we provide details on how to do this with your booking.

Food and Drink

Without getting into your car you can:

Visit the Pub – on site pub with outdoor seating serving food and drinks all day

Eat at the Cafe – have a bite at the cafe in the village!

Cook at home – enjoy alfresco meals – all of our properties (apart from the apartments) have outside furniture and some have a BBQ for you to use – what are you waiting for – explore the outside dining experience!
