Flamborough Head
Scenic outcrop with two lighthouses and cafe.
Flamborough Head is a striking coastal promontory located on the east coast of Yorkshire, England, jutting out into the North Sea between Filey and Bridlington. Famous for its dramatic white chalk cliffs, sculpted over millions of years, the headland is a haven for seabirds such as puffins, kittiwakes, and gannets, making it a key site for birdwatching and nature conservation.
The area is also home to two historic lighthouses—the oldest dating back to 1669—which have long guided ships navigating the treacherous coastline. Below the cliffs lie caves, arches, and stacks formed by erosion, creating a rugged and picturesque landscape that attracts walkers, photographers, and geologists alike.
Flamborough Head’s combination of natural beauty, rich wildlife, and maritime heritage makes it one of the most distinctive and captivating stretches of coastline in Britain.
