A Weekend in Bridlington with the Kids: Your 48-Hour Itinerary for the Perfect Yorkshire Coast Break

If you’re dreaming of a fun-packed getaway that’s perfect for the whole family, Yorkshire Coast breaks don’t come much better than a couple of days in Bridlington. With wide golden beaches, fascinating wildlife, seaside traditions, and attractions that will keep the kids busy from morning until night, it’s the ideal destination for a quick escape.

Our cosy 3-bedroom (pet-free) self-catering cottage, Ransdale Cottage, is just a very short walk from North Beach, the perfect base for Bridlington stays whether you’re visiting for a weekend or taking advantage of mid-week breaks (when you’ll often find quieter beaches, better deals, and more availability).

Day 1 – Start Your Bridlington Stay with Beach Fun and Seaside Charm

Morning – North Beach Adventures
Your holiday begins with the sound of the waves. From the cottage, North Beach is just a few minutes’ walk away. This stunning stretch of coastline is the perfect playground, soft sand for castle building, rock pools for little explorers, and plenty of space for a game of frisbee. The views of Bridlington Bay are the perfect backdrop for your first family photos of the trip.

Late Morning – Playtime at Queensgate Park
Five minutes in the opposite direction from the beach, you’ll find Queensgate Park. With swings, slides, and climbing frames, it’s an instant hit with the kids and a great place to burn off some energy before lunch.

Afternoon – Picnic on Bridlington’s South Beach
Before heading out again, pack up a picnic and head to South Beach, known for its vast expanse of soft sand and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to relax together, enjoy your favourite snacks, and let the kids paddle in the shallows. Late Afternoon – Flamborough Head Wildlife Spotting
After refuelling, take a short drive to Flamborough Head. Depending on the season, you might spot seals basking on the rocks below. While you’re there, visit the famous Flamborough Lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views of the rugged coastline – the perfect reminder of why the Yorkshire coast is so special.

Evening – Ice Cream & Arcades
No Yorkshire Coast break is complete without a seaside treat. Grab an ice cream from one of the local parlours and wander down to the arcades, where the whole family can enjoy a little friendly competition. When it comes to ice-cream in Bridlington we have to recommend Geronimo’s.

The dramatic views and the sight of diving gulls will be a lasting memory. If the weather’s on your side, you can also book a seabird boat trip for an even closer look.
