Travelling to and around The Bay
However you choose to get to Filey and The Bay in particular (and travel around the area) then you have a wide range of options:
Train
Filey has its very own station – pictured. The station is located in the town centre (about five minutes away by taxi from The Bay) and boasts the following services:
Since the summer 2019 timetable was introduced on 20 May 2019, an hourly service now runs from Filey station in both directions all week (including Sundays). Weekday & Saturday trains normally terminate at Hull southbound, but on Sundays these run through to Sheffield (this will also apply throughout the week from the December 2019 timetable change).
Scarborough station and nearby Seamer station operate a fuller service and are both on the Transpennine Express service for a much fuller and frequent service.

Bus
Filey has a bus station about five minutes by taxi from The Bay.
Coastliner run buses between Leeds and York, and on to the popular resorts of Whitby and Scarborough on the East Coast. It’s an amazing journey, filled with stunning moorland and coastal views, packed with exciting family attractions β and Coastliner has won the coveted title of Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route! Coastliner runs every 30 minutes between Leeds, Tadcaster, York and Malton, Mondays to Saturdays.
There are other local services and there is a bus stop right outside The Bay.
Car
The Bay is ideally located half way between Scarborough and Bridlington. It takes less than an hour to travel from York.
The Bay has a large number of parking spaces for your car and visitors are welcome. Some properties have their own parking space as well.
Electric Vehicles – we have a dedicated EV page on our website – The Bay now has EV chargers for everyone and some properties have their own charger.


Taxi
There are several taxi companies operating in the area. If you book with us then you will be able to access pet friendly and discounted taxi fares with Goldline Private Hire.
Foot
The Bay has amazing walks right on the doorstep which we have detailed in previous blogs.
The Bay is located on the Cleveland Way so you could walk to The Bay but it is an ideal base to explore the coast, the wolds and the dales if you venture further……

Bike
The Bay has access to miles of roads and beaches – ideal for travelling to or around the village on bikes. We don’t allow the storage of bikes inside the properties but you can secure these outside or you may choose to secure yours on the roof of your car whilst staying in the properties.
There are local bike hire centres around – Wheely Active is located nearby and can assist you further.
