Spooky Barn: Halloween Adventure! – Daily from Saturday 26th October to Thursday 31st October
Calling all witches and wizards! Join us for our Spooky Barn: Halloween Adventure this October Half Term!
There is something amiss at the Wizards’ Gathering this year at Sledmere! With signs of marauding magical beasts and strange ghostly incursions in the Spooky Barn it would appear that enchantments keeping the nether world at bay have lost their power! Fear not as the legendary Professor Nefarious himself has joined the gathering this year! Fresh from his wondrous adventures spell-casting his way across the globe, Nefarious will harness the power of his willing audiences to save Sledmere from unearthly creatures this Halloween! What could possibly go wrong….?!
Come and enjoy a fun and family-friendly Halloween walk-through experience, with performers from Rusticus Theatre Company, magical animal encounters and activities! Don’t forget to follow the trail down to the Walled Garden to take part in our petrifying pumpkin hunt!
(Please note we will be closing Spooky Barn early at 3pm on Saturday 26th October for our Sledmere Musical Spectacular Fireworks display)

Sewerby Hall – Spooky Sewerby
Sewerby Hall and Gardens have lots of exciting activities for all the family this October half term 2024.
Halloween Spooky Gardens: 26th October to 3rd November. Explore the walled gardens to see what spooky characters you can find. Or take part in our Love Exploring Halloween Dance Trail and discover more about Halloween with our spooky dancers and quiz.
Spooky Magic Shows and Facepainting – 26th and 30th October and 2nd November. Come and see Mr Bubbles’ new spooky magic show. Full of giggles and screams and plenty of trick or treats. Show times in the Orangery: 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. Face painting by our professional face painter (£3 additional charge).
Rusticus Adventures: Join Rustics for a range of three different immersive adventures. Wizarding Adventure 28th October, Grimm Tales 29th October, Trick or Treat Adventure 31st October.

Piglets Pumpkin Festival
During selected weekends in October and until 31st October head down and pick your very own FREE pumpkin from 1000’s of home grown pumpkins!
Join Merlin with his very own smoke breathing dragon for two fantastic spooky shows each day along with meet and greets! Don’t get too close to the dragon!!! Discover the mystery of the missing dinosaur eggs in the Maize Maze and NEW for 2024 we have our very own “Petrifying Portrait Photographer doing sittings….enter this family experience if you dare!” A new craft is ready to make in the craft tipi.
Discover the Beach with a huge sand and water play area, venture down the cliff side slide and up and down the rock scrambles. Visit the fairies along the Fairy Tale Trail. Take the Tractor and Trailer ride up to the Play Barn.
Remember, don’t forget to come and meet all our wonderful animals at our daily “spooky animal encounters” petting sessions! Our delicious sourdough pizzas, jackets and “deadlicious nachos” will keep little tummies full for an extra special treat!

Grab a scroll from them in the visitor centre before heading into the play area. Find letters on the enchanted pumpkins to form a secret code. Visit the forest protectors again, giving them the magic word to break the spell and win a prize.

Castle Howard Halloween
Pumpkin Patch: 1st – 31st October 2024
The Castle Howard Garden Centre Pumpkin Patch is back for the fourth year running!
Explore the patch and choose your perfect pumpkin. Whether small, medium, or large, there are varying sizes and colours, perfect for carving, decorating and making the most of the spooky season.

The Great Pumpkin Adventure with the Skelves: 30th October – 3rd November
The pesky Skelves of Skelf Island Adventure Playground are performing a brand-new play this half term at Castle Howard! Join them on a pumpkin-tastic adventure full of magic and mischief. Watch the show at the Skelf Island Adventure Playground.

North Yorkshire Water Park
- North Yorkshire Water Park has introduced daily pumpkin carving workshops, a free pumpkin trail, and other spooky activities this half-term. It’s all on dry land, making it a fang-tastic day out for kids seeking frightful fun this spooky season.

Saturday 26th October and running until Sunday 3rd November, children aged 4 to 16 can join the daily Pumpkin Carving sessions held at 10am and 2pm each day. These brand new and interactive workshops allow kids to pick their own pumpkins in Adventure Wood before carving them in the specially decorated bushcraft area. £10 per child, which includes a pumpkin, and £5 for adults, with additional pumpkins available for an extra £5.
There is Halloween themed archery and axe throwing sessions in the new Adventure Wood! Visitors can try their hand at shooting arrows at spider web targets or even throw axes at pumpkins, adding an extra element of spooky excitement to the festivities.
There is a FREE Pumpkin Trail around the lake. Families can take a stroll around the scenic water’s edge whilst keeping an eye out for hidden pumpkins. Spot as many as you can, then head to the café to submit your count and enter a prize draw. This fun and family-friendly activity is a great way to enjoy the fresh autumn air whilst hunting for spooky surprises!

The Edge Aerial Adventure, Bridlington
Let your little monkeys swing through the skies this half-term. The Edge Aerial Adventure, located near Bridlington beach, is the largest high ropes course of its kind in Yorkshire! Whether you’re a seasoned daredevil or just starting out, The Edge has two levels so you can go at your own pace.
Open daily from 10am to 6pm during half term (Monday 28 October – Friday 1 November 2024), the course is perfect for kids aged 6+, and it’s a fantastic way to spend quality family time while staying active. Ryedale Folk Museum Hallowmas
From 12 October: The museum is all decked out for autumn and the hobs are back! These cheeky household elves have been up to all sorts of mischief! Follow the trail, count the hobs, and get in the Hallowmas spirit. Perfect for all the family.
Trick or Treat Experience at Ryedale Folk Museum: Thursday 31 October – £12.00 per person
Timed entry slots at 5.30pm, 5.45pm, 6.00pm, 6.15pm, 6.30pm, 6.45pm. (Event ends at 7.30pm)
The museum is all decked out for All Hallow’s Eve and we’ve got a special event not to be missed this year. Visit the museum’s historic homes, knock on the doors and enter if you dare.
With treats for everyone, plus the odd little trick along the way, there’s plenty of fun to be had this Halloween.
The Trick or Treat Experience is suitable for families with children aged 4 to 11. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Children under age 4 are welcome to attend. There is no admittance charge but if they would like to receive the ‘treats’ a charge of £4.00 will be required on the night, payable at the Museum on arrival.
